Yufuin was one of the places that I originally didn’t feel like going to. It didn’t seem as intriguing as Aso, it was smaller, and it was f*cking close to Beppu, so I wasn’t a fan at the start.

I really have no idea where to start with Yufuin. On one hand it exceeded my expectations and was a damn charming little city, on the other hand it’s ridiculously touristy.

We started off with the main shopping area, and pretty much stayed there the whole time. That’s where I could feel the vibe of the place, but it was kind of bland given the amount of tourists there were.

All food stalls there sell local Japanese delicacies, and they range from very good to phenomenal, so I’m a fan.

I guess the place wasn’t too internationalised either.

The first day we walked out onto the long branch of shops, where we had food, and bought a lot.

The area was actually really quaint and beautiful.

I’ll definitely leave most of the area for y’all to check out yourself.

One thing worth noting though. Before the day the weather got much better (the day we flew back), we went up to the “Sagiridai Over Look” where we had a great view of the city.
