THE ALVIATOR'S VERDICT
This lounge is nice and well-appointed, though could have a better catering selection and can get crowded quite quickly. I'd recommend visiting some of Star Alliance's other lounges at the airport if I had the time |

In February 2026, I had the chance to visit the Lufthansa business class lounge at Heathrow Airport. This lounge is located in Terminal 2, and is one of four lounges available to all eligible departing Star Alliance passengers. There are also a few quirks with entry requirements at this lounge – for example, you can either with an AmEx Platinum card, if you’re departing on a Lufthansa Group flight in economy.
This is typically the most crowded out of the four Star Alliance lounges at the airport, though it’s fairly fresh and well-appointed. I appreciate the large variety of seating, especially if you’re looking to get some work done. If you’re pressed on time and are leaving from the A-gates, this lounge is a good option, especially if you’re not fussed about the lounge’s mediocre catering.
It’s worth noting that the lounge has an exclusive Senator section, which I actually also had access to. I’ll be reviewing this section in a separate post.
Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Access and Opening Hours
The Lufthansa business class lounge is open from 5 AM to 10 PM, covering all Star Alliance departures at Heathrow Airport. The lounge is open to:
- Star Alliance business class passengers (including, obviously, the Lufthansa Group)
- Star Alliance Gold members departing on a Star Alliance flight
- Passengers with Lufthansa Frequent Traveller status departing on a Star Alliance flight
- United, Air Canada, or ANA Star Gold members departing on a Eurowings flight
- AmEx Platinum cardholders departing on a Lufthansa Group flight: at Heathrow T2, that’s Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings
Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Location
Heathrow’s Terminal 2 has two main concourses – the A concourse, which is located right after security, and the B concourse, which is located a 10-15 minute walk away. Generally, shorthaul flights leave from the A concourse, whereas medium-haul to longhaul flights tend to leave out of the B concourse (the A concourse doesn’t handle any widebody flights, though some narrowbody flights do leave out of the B concourse).
The Lufthansa lounge is the only Star Alliance lounge located by the A-gates, so it’s the obvious lounge to visit if you’re flying out of Heathrow on a shorthaul Star Alliance flight. It’s located immediately after security on the upper level of the concourse, and is fairly hard to miss – follow the signs to Lounge A1.

Enter through the automatic doors and check in with one of the friendly lounge staff, and you’ll be admitted into the lounge.

Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Seating and Atmosphere
The Lufthansa lounge is one large room. It’s very similarly designed to their Frankfurt lounges, which I consider to be disappointing for hub lounges. However, I have much lower standards for an outstation, and actually find the furniture here to be much fresher (which makes sense, given that the lounge was only refurbished late last year).

Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Seating
I was pleasantly surprised that the lounge had fairly varied seating. As you’d expect from a Lufthansa lounge, there were many grey and beige armchair, all featured in fairly open areas. These armchairs all had fairly easy access to power ports, though I would’ve wished for these power ports to be universal.

While I wasn’t surprised that the majority of the seating was armchair seating, I was pleasantly surprised to find a variety of seating available. Firstly, there were these cubicles with L-shaped tables, which I really enjoyed.

Secondly, there were some daybeds lined up along the side of the room. While these daybeds don’t look the most comfortable (particularly the padding), it’s good to have the option.

Lastly, I was appreciative that there were partitions between seats, giving a bit more privacy. I actually find their hub lounge seating in Frankfurt to be less thoughtful in that regard.

If you fancy a bit more of a communal table setup, there’s some bar seating available further into the lounge.

Then there’s seating that’s more suited for a dining context, with restaurant-style chairs and benches available as well.

Furthermore, many of the lounges at Heathrow’s Terminal 2 have a cute guestbook concept, which I spotted here at the Lufthansa lounge. There were quite a few guests that had passed by and written in the guestbook. It’s pretty cool that the people that have written in this guestbook are scattered all over the world (okay, realistically more likely all over Europe).

WiFi was free, and fast – it measured 26.5 Mbps down and 15.2 Mbps up. That’s not lightning fast, though would do the trick for a lot of light work.
I appreciate the many thoughtful seating areas throughout the lounge. While the overall decor is quite similar to what you’d expect for a Lufthansa lounge (these are quite standard throughout the world, and on the generic side), I felt there was an above-average variety of seating for an outstation lounge. While the lounge definitely got a lot more crowded throughout the morning, I felt like there was always a space to sit, as the lounge was a good size.
While you can easily find a space to sit within the lounge, I will say that the lounge does tend to teeter towards the crowded side, though. Many of the above pictures were taken within a few minutes after the lounge opened, at around 5:05 AM. While I wouldn’t say it was crowded at that time at all, there were definitely more people in the lounge than I was expecting (in contrast, the United, Singapore Airlines, and Air Canada lounges were all relatively empty 30 minutes after opening time).
Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Facilities
I’d also like to cover some of the facilities that you can use at the Lufthansa business class lounge at Heathrow Airport.
Near the entrance is a large business centre. If there’s one thing Lufthansa lounges do well, it’s consistently providing a space to work, with a decent setup as well. There was a meeting desk in the middle of the room, and many workstations to the side. I imagine this space is built to reflect the heavy business demographic that Lufthansa serves in London.

If you’re lucky, you can also nab one of the cubicles to the side of the lounge. There are two of these, and they’re particularly well-lit, and aptly set up for working. I would’ve wished for a more supportive chair in these cubicles, though.

Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Private Cubicles
If you’d like to make a call, there are three call booths available in the lounge as well. I’ve recently realised that call booths are actually surprisingly omitted in many lounges, so it was good for the Lufthansa lounge to feature these.

Notably missing from the facilities is shower rooms – Lufthansa’s Heathrow lounge doesn’t feature shower rooms, as the lounge mainly serves passengers flying on shorthaul flights.
I’d say that if you’re looking for a place to get work done (and don’t need lightning fast WiFi), the Lufthansa lounge is very well set-up, provided that these spaces are relatively empty.
Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Food and Beverage
While I was impressed by the seating and facilities that were offered by the Lufthansa business class lounge at Heathrow Airport, the food and beverage offering didn’t blow me away in comparison.
The lounge buffet is featured as a centrepiece of sorts, with much of the food spread featured across a couple of islands. I was only here over breakfast, so can’t speak for what the food offering was like over the rest of the day.

Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Food Spread
Hot options here included English breakfast options such as roast potatoes, bacon, baked beans and scrambled eggs, as well as porridge and mini pancakes. I wish there would’ve been a bit more room for creativity.

Meanwhile, there was a cold breakfast and cereal bar, and also some pastries. You’d think that a Lufthansa lounge would have at least some form of pretzel bread, no?

Meanwhile, there were various German beers, wines (including sparkling wine), and soft drinks available.

Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow Drinks
While I’m not sure what the lounge serves up over the rest of the day, this wasn’t the most inspiring breakfast selection I’ve ever had at an airline lounge. In fact, some of the Star Alliance lounges at Heathrow Airport have much better breakfast selections.
Conclusion: Lufthansa Business Lounge London Heathrow
While I’m normally not the biggest fan of Lufthansa lounges, the Lufthansa business class lounge at Heathrow Airport is very well set-up if you want to get some work done. I was impressed by the number of seating options, and particularly how they were ergonomically designed for working. If you’re fairly pressed on time, aren’t looking to eat, and your flight is leaving from the A-gates, this is a perfectly good lounge to visit before your flight, and I wouldn’t go out of my way to head to one of the (better, but far) lounges by the B-gates.
However, if you’re looking to eat, I’d definitely recommend doing the extra walk to one of Heathrow’s other lounges, provided you have access. The food spread just isn’t very inspiring here. Also do note that this lounge can get fairly crowded, and doesn’t have showers. Additionally, even if you’re not hungry, it’s fun to lounge hop if you have the time.
What’s your favourite Star Alliance lounge at Heathrow Airport?
