As part of our new brand as The Alviator, I’m introducing Alvia, a flight booking consultancy. The concept of Alvia is simple: you give me a list of ingredients, I’ll tell you what to cook. (In other words, you give me your miles and cash budget, and I’ll tell you which flights to book.)
Alvia, A Flight Booking Consultancy
While there are lots of brilliant flight search engines out there (including on miles and points), there aren’t many online resources out there for travellers with a bunch of miles and budget to book flights that can help them get to their destination comfortably, quickly, and within budget, without seeking a travel agent.
I wanted to introduce a concept where you can get a consultant to help you look for flights – someone with a bit more experience with how you can use your miles/Membership Rewards points/etc., and also understanding of where award space is most likely to open up, while still understanding that you either a) love flying or b) want to get to your destination without spending a 23 hour layover at a foreign airport without spending extra budget on a hotel room.
So here’s what I’m proposing:
- Head on to alvia.me and add in all your flight details (including origin, destination, budget, and nationality), or just email booking@alvia.me
- I’ll send you a Google Sheet within 24-48 hours with three options that you can use to book your flights
- I have no idea how good/bad I’ll be at this, so Alvia will be a free service – that’s right, I’m basically your nerd friend helping you look for flights so you don’t have to
Fly Qantas premium economy from Southeast Asia to London – one of the best deals I’ll be sure to recommend some of you
In general, consultants are as useful for extra capacity as they are for expertise, if not more. I’d like to be a pair of hands that will help you look for flights as you get on with your day, while being (demurely) mindful that you’ll be able to enjoy your flights to your business trip or holiday.
Unfortunately, as with the best search engines, sometimes the best answer I can give is “there were no options matching your search”. Do just reach out – we’ll likely have some back-and-forth through email as I try and find solutions around your travel plans.
Please reach out if you’d like to help!
I spend my free time looking up weird flight details that vaguely connect continents that I want to travel between. I’m not a UX designer or an app developer, so my mentality right now is very much “if it works, it’s a start”. I’m also fully aware that most flight booking platforms are not merely contact forms that route to an email.
While I’m definitely not in a position to hire, I’ll consider economically friendly offers to help me create a better user interface, or just to be another pair of hands with Alvia. My hope is that it’ll provide an option for learning-but-not-savvy travellers to find good deals with the cash budget and points that they have, as well as use your credit card points wisely.
Perhaps add an extra stop to your itinerary, but fly one of the world’s best business class products
What Alvia isn’t
- If you’re looking for someone to book corporate, I unfortunately can’t offer that capacity for free (we can discuss paid rates)
- I work full time and am not offering a paid service, so can’t offer a 24-48 hour guarantee (although I’ll endeavour to fulfil this)
- We’re not a travel agent, so can’t actually help you book your flights (though we will tell you where to book, and will provide as much help over email as we can)
Bottom Line
I’m introducing Alvia, a flight consultancy search platform where you key in your itinerary and budget (cash and points wise), and I’ll give you options you can book within 24-48 hours. This is something new I’m trying out based on what I think is a gap in the market, so please do jump in with patronage, support, and feedback!
