While I’m more of a commercial plane geek than anything else, I’ll take new things in a heartbeat. For example, I was pumped for my Gippsland GA-8 Airvan that we tried to schedule in New Zealand back in 2014 (unfortunately, they were all booked out, and I wasn’t ready to take a helicopter given what my seventh grade science teacher said she experienced).
I was unusually excited for my first turboprop flight on Yangon Airways’ ATR 72.
Naturally I was tempted to click when Groupon Getaways sent me an email entitled “Fastest flight ever! Bring in a new era of airliner”.
In a nutshell, Jin Air is launching F-380 fighter jet flights from Hong Kong/Bangkok to Seoul.
According to the video:
For those who want to get to Korea faster, Jin Air is now flying a F-380 fighter jet from its Bangkok [Hong Kong]-Seoul route, a world first.
Delicious combat rations are offered as your inflight meal.
A 360° barrel roll adds excitement to your flight.
Incredible supersonic speeds to Seoul in two hours (30 minutes from Hong Kong).
We promise a special experience beyond your expectations.
Fly with unexpected delight, Jin Air.
For once, I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say. Jin Air, a low cost carrier, has weird aspirations. Especially when they’re trying to sell the flight at US$1m.
I mean, Jin Air won’t even sell the flight on Groupon – apparently it’s for “advertorial purposes”.
Obviously, the video is a clear indication of Jin Air’s (widely advertised) expectations of the route. Like the man screaming so hard in the video that he faints…
Or the sauce packets with butter and bbq sauce that they use to represent “combat rations”…
Or the disclaimer at the end…
Or the fact that the F-380 doesn’t even exist…
BOTTOM LINE
I’m sold. Are you?
Who’s up for it?
